Things to do near Fort Myers
If you have a day or two (or more!) to spend nearby Fort Myers there are two things you absolutely have to do. The first is to visit the Edison and Ford Winter Estates (yes, that Thomas Edison and that Henry Ford). As most of Florida’s incredible coastal area was where the famous and rich wanted to be, these estates give you a glimpse of what 20th century Florida was like for the wealthy
The second is the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Located just under 25 miles from downtown Fort Myers, this refuge area with more than 6 thousand acres offer a nice morning or afternoon for the whole family. There you’ll be able to visit the education center, walk, bike or drive through a four-mile wildlife drive and have some adventure on any or all three trails available.
